Colds are miserable…so here’s some trivia

I’ve been miserable the last few days since returning to Hawaii. We both caught colds in San Jose. You’ve all had colds so I don’t need to share details but its one of those that almost stops you dead. I got a spurt of energy on Friday to vacuum and dust the house. I got another spurt today after my 3 hour nap so that I could shower and go out grocery shopping. We haven’t made it out for our runs. Getting up to run or even walk after a sleepless night is hard. Nights are sleepless due to not being able to breathe which is further compounded by kittens who think you might leave them again!

But I’m not here to complain but figured that I had no reason not to write a blog since I’ve done next to nothing else in 5 days. So here are a couple weird observations I’ve had lately.

  • I am a deadbeat. I heard this on a ABC News video about credit card debt in America. Since we pay off our credit cards in full every month, the companies make very little m0ney off us and think we are deadbeats.
  • Smart phones aren’t too smart. I’ve been thinking about getting one for my business since my Sony Clie PDA is ancient after 4 years. My reviews of the various smart phones available led me to a decision to wait. No one I have talked to haven’t had some problem with theirs. Yes, many people love them. But most say it is a good phone or a good PDA but rarely both. I remember when Jim Clark from Netscape was talking to the court during Microsoft browser trials…he said “It’s kind of like a houseboat. It’s neither a good house nor a good boat”. I think that is probably true of the smartphones right now too so I’ll wait a while longer.
