We took Mooshie back to the vet because her diarrhea, bowel issues and weight loss have continued. She seems to be doing better with Truffle, though Truffle can be a bit much for all of us at times!
The vet told us about many options. Both our guts tell us that this was all either
1) Due to change in diet – might be allergic to something in canned cat foods.
2) Due to stress. She is a nervous Nellie.
It started gradually after Widgit got sick and we were trying to get her to eat anything. Remember that I blogged Super Eater Girl.. Well, she still is a good eater and seems to enjoy her canned food very much. It is a little harder eating with Tumbler Truffle around. Truffle is always starving and eats until her belly poofs! She has no regards for her bowl vs. Moosh’s so the best I can do is to feed Truffle on the counter so Moosh has a chance. Her diarrhea got worse when Widgit passed.
So the vet recommended a therapy of prednisone (anti-inflamatory steroid) and amitriptyline (anti-anxiety)… like Prozac. Luckily she still likes pill pockets so we just let her eat them down. We hope that both treatments will be temporary and help… but they could be long term.
I’m tired of vets and monitoring kitty meds!
Truffle goes in to get fixed next Monday. Hopefully not too many meds for her.
