It is an absolutely gorgeous morning in Maui as this photo taken from my front lanai. It is hard to believe that we are in a state of emergency! It appears that the worst is over as they have lowered advisory. We spent much of a sleepless night monitoring and sharing news and hearing sirens go off hourly. There were significant sized waves hitting coastal areas. Though I didn’t see great time-elapse photos from Maui, I’m sharing this from Kailua-Kona on the Big Island to show you what a tsunami looks like after traveling thousands of miles.
Roads are still closed. Schools are still closed. Beaches will remain closed for some time. Rescue helicopters are still flying overhead. Stay home until they give the clear siren.
I am thankful that everyone I know is safe and wants to get on with their busy lives. My thoughts and prayers go out to the thousands of people impacted in Japan and possible other tsunami-damaged areas around the globe.
P.S. I just a call from another agent who has an off-island seller who decided to counter after telling us 2 days ago he wouldn’t go below a certain value; tsunami’s do change things! I still think Maui is Paradise.
