My sister Karin told me today that I need to blog. So this is just 10 minutes (I set my timer) of random thoughts.
Today is our 17th anniversary. We laughed as we used our fingers to count how many years it has been! Peter says that being married to me is easy — it’s the “Kitty Dad” part he doesn’t know how he got into.
Widgit is getting older and we worry that we’ll lose her. She just jumped up on the counter and was watching the birds have a HUGE family turf war literally 6 inches from Widgit! (screen was between them). My friend Tamara just lost her kitty Zeke suddenly by a brain tumor so it reminds us how fast they can go — and how precious they are too us. Zeke was like Widgit in that he had a big personality and picked people he liked. He always liked me and liked him!
So we are supposed to have fun on our anniversary right? We both look at each other and we don’t know what to do to have fun. We talked about diving… but it is too early (Peter not awake enough) and too late (missed the pristine early morning hours). It would be fun to be drinking wine in Tuscany or even Wine Country but we are not there; does fun take that much planning and money? We check to see if there are any movies that we want to see; there aren’t. We talk about trying a new restaurant for dinner; how much money do we really want to spend?
I’d rather spend money on a new Air Conditioner or getting the back fence that is falling down from overgrown vines fixed. I think about replacing my toilet seats and then think that instead I should replace whole toilet and get benefits of lower water use. Mmmm $20 for new seat or $149 for new toilet? I give up and live with current seat and toilet. My water bill was $368 last month. We had a leak in our sprinkler system which I’m sure made this worse; luckily I’ve fixed the leak but have more sprinkler repairs to make. Everything on Maui is expensive.
My volunteer group from Ahihi Kinau is upset that volunteer programs have been shutdown since May 1. There are some type of turf wars going on and we’re pushing to do something in spite of that. We want to protect the resources. They recently closed part of the reserve which makes even more people go to the areas that are open. I’m leading the effort from the volunteer standpoint.
Time is up… I do need to blog my “TOO BIG PROJECT” that I did while Peter was off at Photoshop World last week. I painted my kitchen cabinets and kitchen walls. They look great…but that means processing pictures that takes much longer than 10 minutes!
